Strengthening Skills For Girls: Practical Training-Courses Series On Primary Services at TSUULL
The Practical Training Series on the basic services for girls in our University for the new academic year has started.
It’s common knowledge that many women’s empowerment projects the world over focus on hairdressing, tailoring or cooking. This is in part because the barrier to entry is low, so these programmes are accessible to women who may not have had much formal education, and in part due to constraints on women – most of these jobs can be done in female-only environments or at home. There are different trends in different parts of the world.
Some women, simply learning a new skill can be hugely valuable and confidence-boosting. But there is little hard evidence that these schemes actually help women to earn a living, or empower them in any meaningful sense.
TSUULL regularly delivers training-courses and various workshops for employees and students every two weeks. The employees and students are given insights on Psychology, HealthCare and Financial Management as well. Competency-based education is emerging as an appropriate pedagogical method towards ‘fit-for-purpose’ training. The inclusion of teachers as trainers in general practice and primary basic services is yielding positive results.
The TSUULL ‘Marvarid’ Сlub which is focused on teaching female students the secrets of beauty has been going on since 2019. These peer-to-peer clubs are led by the skilled teachers and Gulnoza Jurayeva, TSUULL Women’s Council Head. The guest hairdressers have been teaching university students what they know about hairdressing, dressing culture and ethics. At the same time, the members of the Club provide paid services for university students and teachers. As a result, students are provided with jobs and their financial interests are taken care of.
This training-course is conducted in the hope that participants will be able to maintain their productivity and welfare after retiring from the University. The training includes hard skills training and soft skills training.
